Vendor Terms of Service
The agreement between your business and NuHalal
Last updated 28 October 2026 · Version 2026-10-28
Draft: this text is being reviewed by a qualified Islamic scholar and a lawyer before NuHalal opens to the public. The meaning will not change without notice.
These terms are an agreement between you, the business selling on NuHalal, and NuHalal's founder, Irfan Handrian, Helsinki, Finland, who operates NuHalal during its beta. If NuHalal moves to a company, we will ask you to accept updated terms with it. Contact: [email protected].
By accepting them in the vendor portal, you confirm that you are allowed to act for your business.
1. Who can sell
- A business registered in Finland with a valid business ID (Y-tunnus).
- Food businesses must be registered with the food control authority (Ruokavirasto or the municipality).
- A valid halal certificate from a certifying body that NuHalal recognises.
- You follow the Vendor Code (Islamic trade ethics).
2. Verification
- NuHalal checks your business ID and confirms your certificate with the body that issued it. Meat vendors may also get a visit.
- You can only sell once NuHalal has approved your business.
- Keep your details up to date. Tell us within 3 working days if your certificate is withdrawn or suspended, or your registration changes.
3. Listings
- You are responsible for your listings being correct and lawful, including allergen information and prices including VAT for consumers.
- Listings are hidden automatically when the certificate they rely on expires.
- NuHalal may hide or remove listings that break these terms, the Vendor Code or the law.
4. Orders and pickup
- Customers reserve products online and pay you when they pick them up. The sale is between you and the customer. NuHalal provides the platform and is not the seller.
- Confirm or decline orders promptly, and keep the pickup times you agree.
- You handle payment, receipts, returns and refunds under Finnish consumer law.
5. Fees
- NuHalal is in beta. During the beta you pay nothing: no verification fee, no listing fee and no commission. Customers pay NuHalal nothing either.
- The beta ends when certificate checks are live and 20–30 vetted vendors are listed. We will tell you at least 30 days before it ends.
- After the beta, the planned prices are: verification €49 once; basic verified listing €9 per month; optional featured placement €25 per month; re-verification €19 per year from the second year; and a commission on orders (planned at 18%) only once NuHalal handles orders. Prices exclude VAT.
- No fee or commission is charged unless you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, you may leave NuHalal at no cost.
- Founding vendors may have a longer free period agreed in writing.
- Invoices are due within 14 days. NuHalal never charges interest. If an invoice stays unpaid, your listings may be hidden until it is paid.
6. Strikes and suspension
- An expired certificate that isn't renewed within 14 days is one strike. Three strikes suspend your account and hide your listings.
- Serious breaches (a false halal claim, selling haram products, fraud or a food-safety danger) lead to immediate suspension and may be reported to the authorities.
- You can appeal any strike or suspension by email within 14 days. A person reviews every appeal.
7. Your content and our brand
- You keep the rights to your photos and texts. You allow NuHalal to show them on the platform, and to use them to promote your listings, for as long as you are a vendor.
- You may show the NuHalal Verified badge only while your business is verified.
8. Personal data
- Use customers' personal data only to handle their orders and questions. Don't send them marketing unless they have agreed to it.
- Each of us is responsible for our own processing under the GDPR. The Privacy Policy describes how NuHalal handles personal data.
9. Liability
- NuHalal provides the platform as it is and is not responsible for your products. You are responsible for your products and for claims about them.
- NuHalal is not liable for indirect losses. Its total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the last 12 months, except in cases of intent or gross negligence.
10. Changes and ending the agreement
- NuHalal may change these terms with 30 days' notice. If you don't accept the change, you can end the agreement before it takes effect.
- Either side can end the agreement with 30 days' notice, or immediately for a serious breach.
- Fees already paid are not refunded, except where the law requires it.
11. Law and disputes
Finnish law applies. We will first try to settle any disagreement amicably (ṣulḥ). If that fails, disputes are resolved in the Helsinki District Court.
